Umbria
The region of Umbria, located to the south-east of Tuscany, is an ‘ up and coming’ tourist area in Italy, and quickly gaining popularity as a favoured destination. Umbria is just a beautiful and green as Tuscany, but because of its relative newness as a tourist center, prices can often be slightly lower. Umbria was named by the Romans for the Iron Age tribe that once occupied this area, the Umbrii. Like Tuscany, Umbria boasts several perfectly preserved medieval villages and towns, of which Perugia is a prime example.
